Hard Summer Music Festival announces 2021 dates and a new location  San Bernardino County Sun

Hard Summer, festival promoter Insomniac’s EDM and hip-hop festival, will return in 2021 at a different, but familiar venue.

The event, which didn’t happen this summer because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, will return July 31 and Aug. 1, 2021 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, a move eastward from Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, where the festival had been a fixture in recent years.

Tickets, open to guests 18 and older only, go on sale at noon Thursday, Oct. 15.

Hard Summer was one of many to be canceled in 2020 as a result of the novel coronavirus. In a Facebook post from May, festival officials said they would shift their focus to “creating an unforgettable experience for next year’s festival.” Guests who held on to their 2020 passes were thanked by festival organizers who automatically upgraded them to VIP status for 2021.

As other festivals around the country push back 2021’s festival dates to the fall, such as Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Insomniac has already announced multiple Southern California festivals for next summer. Beyond Wonderland will be at the NOS Events Center June 25-26; the new Day Trip festival will dock on the waterfront in San Pedro July 3; and Nocturnal Wonderland will return to the grounds of Glen Helen Amphitheater in Devore Sept. 18 and 19.

And even with the pandemic still going on, Insomniac’s has done drive-in events, including the expansion of the Park N’ Rave series to San Bernardino, which started last weekend with Maceo Plex.

Hard Summer will take advantage of the event center’s main festival grounds as well as its Orange Show Speedway racetrack. There will be water stations, shade structures and misters around the venue, according to a news release from festival officials.

VIP guests will get their own shaded areas, special dance areas at each stage, access to the Hard Splash Pool (which the release notes comes complete with floaties), signature food and cocktails, dedicated bathrooms and access to an expedited festival entrance.

Pre-sale tickets, which are $149 for general admission and $319 for VIP, go on sale at noon Thursday on the Hard Summer website for a $9.95 deposit. Specific ticket prices are not yet listed on the website.
