H.E.R., meanwhile, does land some Billboard history with her contribution to “Most.” The new chart champ secures the singer-songwriter’s fourth No. 1 on the list, following “Focus” and a featured turn on Daniel Caesar’s “Best Part,” which both reached the summit in October 2018, and third leader “Slow Down,” a collaboration with Skip Marley this May.

As “Focus” led the chart dated Oct. 6, 2018, H.E.R. has scored her first four Adult R&B No. 1s in just over two years, the fastest accumulation of an artist’s first four leaders since Toni Braxton grabbed her initial quartet — “Another Sad Love Song,” “Breathe Again,” “Seven Whole Days” and “You Mean the World to Me” — in less than eight months, between September 1993 and May 1994.

“‘Make the Most ‘ is a very special song! Lonr. is one of my best friends and favorite new artists,” H.E.R. tells Billboard. “We write a lot together, and I’m so thankful to have this milestone with him and to make history having four No. 1s in under two years!”

H.E.R. has quickly established herself as one of the premier women on adult R&B airwaves in the past three years. Besides the four No. 1s, which showcase her own mettle as well as the interest she generates as a supporting act, she nearly achieved a fifth chart-topper with “Could’ve Been,” featuring Bryson Tiller, which stopped at No. 2 in May 2019. Of her first six chart appearances, only “Slide,” featuring YG, failed to reach the top 10, with its No. 14 high.

“H.E.R. is an artist with a true authentic sound and message in her music,” says Jowcol “Boogie” Dolby, program director of KMJK (107.3 FM) in Kansas City. “I think [it] resonates with anyone who listens to her.”

Beyond its Adult R&B coronation, “Most” also advances 20-16 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, where it picks up 9% to 7.8 million in format audience in the week ending Oct. 18.

H.E.R. concurrently places two songs in the list’s top 20. She features on Jhene Aiko’s “B.S.,” which lifts 10-9 as it roars 16% to 11 million in audience.
