Biography
Opera vocalist singing aria's Die Fledermaus, and Je veux vivre turned folk by the age of 18.  Char previously known as Charlene Lacey sang with a group called The Christian Dimensions who made one recording "Oh Happy Day".  The group made a couple of summer tours in the United States.
After attaining her Masters degree from Oklahoma State University, she began in depth study on guitar at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.  In 1989 she became the guitar instructor for the Fine Arts Department at Phillips University.  While living in Oklahoma she was the music director for Christian Church of the Covenant, vocal judge for the Tri-State Music Festival,  sang in "The Messiah", "Carmina Burana", and "Christmas Pops" which were accompanied by the Enid Symphony. She also had a private guitar studio business.
Char divorced in 1994 and remarried in 1996 to a childhood friend who resided in Arizona.  Char and her three children Amber and identicle twins Sarah and Aleah relocated to Arizona.  She felt it was an equal exchange in a joking manner stated that “she had three children and her new husband had three cats”.  Char used her musical talents by teaching, directing and performing on a part-time basis.  She continued to work in the social science field in which she was a school counselor and an educational diagnostician.  She currently works as a psychometrist and does cognitive evaluations for a group of psychologists in Gilbert, AZ.  Following her hearts desire Char began working on her debut album in March of 2007, recording copyrighted songs written in the 80s’.  She finished the recording project in August and released "Secrets of the Heart" CD on November 10, 2007. 
Char, daughter Amber and husband Jack,  perform in a trio together promoting the CD “Secrets of the Heart”.  Amber is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance.  Amber also has a competitive dance background, does studio vocal work and acting.  Doc Butler who is the keyboardist for the trio has sung and played with Char since they were young tots.  Jack is blessed with perfect pitch and an ear for music that allows creativity and perfection.  Jack and Char sang their first live radio show at the age of eleven on a local channel in Oklahoma. 
The trio’s sound has a folk flare with occasional soft rock with a kinship to Sarah McLachlin's earlier work. The songs are uplifting and express love, hope, peace and healing.  Char is all about positive thought and is tuned into the energy movement worldwide.  She uses energy work in the creation of her sound recordings and performances.  Feedback that she is receiving from fans states that they are receiving this energy in forms of healing.  Her music is being used in ICU hospital recovery units, massage clinics, yoga classes, and stress management.  Some of the songs on the CD are referring to the invisible realm and the vale that exists between reality and the spiritual realm.  Char feels that the quote, "Be Still and Know God" is very significant in her own life. 
Radio Airplay is available at this time from stations in the United States; promoter Larry Weir through Heartland Entertainment and by The Music Reps in the Netherlands.
