Virtual Cincinnati Music Festival starts Thursday – WCPO
CINCINNATI — It wouldn’t be the summer without the Cincinnati Music Festival, and the summer of 2020 is no different.
Even though a lot of acts rescheduled their performances until 2021, the Cincinnati Music Festival will be held virtually starting Thursday.
Fran DiBattista, the director of marketing and public relations for the festival, said 2020 has been rough already, and she said having the festival in some capacity will hopefully bring a smile to some faces.
“I didn’t feel right just going dark this weekend,” DiBattista said. “We wanted to show up for our fans, and give them something to smile about.”
Joe Santangelo, a producer for the festival, also said this year probably would have seen the largest crowd at the music festival since it started in 1962.
“For the first part of March, we had sold more than 70,000 tickets,” Santangelo said. “There were a lot of years where we didn’t have 70,000 by the time the festival ended… We were going to be, probably eighty to ninety-thousand people if things hadn’t gone by the wayside.”
The virtual festival starts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and goes through Saturday. You can click here to visit the festival’s website for more information.
