Netflix’s Aggretsuko Season 3 Trailer Sees A Switch From Death Metal To Pop – Comic Years
One of Netflix’s biggest anime is bringing back its self-deprecating humour for a brand new season. The Aggretsuko season 3 trailer announces the return of the workplace dramedy to the streamer. The new season ups the stakes and has a drastic change in tone to match. Usually, the lead character de-stresses by singing Death Metal music, but this time around, it could possibly be Pop music instead?
Aggretsuko Was One Of Netflix’s First Original Anime

One of Netflix’s first anime series was Aggretsuko, a fantasy dramedy about a red Panda. A young woman called Retsuko works as a boring accountant, fed up with her job. Not being able to find an outlet for her frustrations in life, she ends up singing Karaoke privately. But her choice of music to sing is surprising given her character. The sweet and timid young woman becomes an aggressive Death Metal-head as she unwinds from the rigors of her life through violent Metal music.
Throughout the series, Retsuko deals with many aspects of her life such as harassment, idealism, and not living up to her own expectations. She forms relationships and friendships that help her through the hardships of her life, but never really forms a close attachment to them. Something that the Aggretsuko season 3 trailer addresses in its first look of the new season.
The Aggretsuko Season 3 Trailer Teases A Major Shift In Tone And Music Genre
In the Aggretsuko season 3 trailer, Retsuko faces a new challenge. A car accident causes her to need money, so she accepts a frivolous promotion at her job. Becoming an accounting director to a Pop music group, Retsuko is even more frustrated than ever. In a job she hates, with coworkers questioning her friendship, Retsuko never seems to catch a break. But with new influences in her life, like one of the singers of the Pop group, things could change.
The rest of the season 3 trailer plays out as Retsuko tries to find meaning, and finally peace in her life. Many elements of the trailer discuss how Retsuko needs to find something in her life worth doing, something that is her dream. This crisis forces her to question her choices and rexamine how she got where she is. The ending of the trailer sees the possibility of her realizing that dream, as she appears to be on stage with the Pop group, in full costume, looking happy. Aggretsuko season 3 may finally bring some closure and containment to Retsuko’s life.
Aggrestsuko season 3 releases on August 27 on Netflix.
