Russell Dickerson Crosses Over to Pop Music on Clara Mae Collaboration, “Alright” Sounds Like Nashville
Crossovers between pop and country music have become quite popular throughout the past few years, and Russell Dickerson is jumping onto the trend with a duet called “Alright.”
The “Love You Like I Used To” singer teamed up with Swedish singer Clara Mae on the brand new track, marking his first full jump into pop music. While he’s been known for power ballads like “Yours” and upbeat hits like “Every Little Thing,” Dickerson was very excited for the opportunity to stretch his genre game with the help of Mae.
“As soon as I heard this song I knew that I needed to be a part of it. Thank you @ClaraMaeMusic for having me,” he wrote in one of his promotional posts about the song on Instagram.
The two singers also worked together on a music video that debuted Thursday (August 27), where they play former lovers reaching out to one another through handwritten letters. While they never meet face-to-face in the treatment, they both maintain a reminiscent spirit in their characters about the love they once shared. Another fun little Easter egg in the music video is the address Mae uses to send her note to Dickerson, which just so happens to be the same one for the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
Dickerson has been quite a busy man with not only the release of this new track, but also prepping for his baby boy to be welcomed into the world. He and his wife, Kailey Dickerson, have taken fans along for the journey of her pregnancy from showing their big gender reveal to giving a sneak peek into their newborn nursery.
Their little one is due any time now, and the couple continue to prepare until they bring him back home after his birth.
Fans can check out Dickerson’s new collaboration with Mae, “Alright,” which is available for streaming now.
