Logic’s ‘Pressure’ Points to Fifth No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart – Billboard
Logic lands his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as No Pressure arrives in the summit on the list dated Aug. 8. The LP, which the rapper has said is his final album, starts with 221,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Of that figure, 172,000 units derive in album sales (supported by a wide offering of merchandise/album bundles), 1,000 are in track-equivalent album units, while the remaining 48,000 come from streaming-equivalent album units, equaling 65.16 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs. The starting sum marks his second-best week for an album, behind only the 248,000-unit entrance of Everybody in 2017.
Prior to Pressure, Logic reigned on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 2015’s The Incredible True Story, 2017’s Everybody, 2018’s Bobby Tarantino II and last year’s Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. All four prior champs posted one week each in the penthouse.
In addition to those chart-topping efforts, Logic’s remaining three career entries on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums – Under Pressure (2014), Bobby Tarantino (2016) and YSIV (2018) – all peaked at No. 2.
Pressure likewise kicks off at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart and opens at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, behind Taylor Swift’s folklore debut.
As Pressure shows, three of the album’s cuts debut on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart: “Perfect” (No. 38), “No Pressure Intro” (No. 48) and “Hit My Line” (No. 50). The foremost track was also Logic’s most-streamed song during the album’s first week, with 7.8 million U.S. streams in the week ending July 30.
The trio of new arrivals push Logic to 29 career entries on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Activity surrounding No Pressure and its tracks prompt Logic’s re-entry at No. 2 on the Artist 100, which measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
